You know what I've found?
He IS my help. Its not "on the way"... It is "HERE". Now. With me always.
It is MORE than enough to know He has never left nor forsaken me.
Too often we look for a "way out" of our circumstances when HE is HERE with us..... through them all.

it;s true our help is Jesus ...and He is with us now.... .... but your post reminded me of something and i have to ask - - is toby mac still around?..... . the last i heard of him was back when i got raked over the coals on the other forum for not getting in line with the CCM movement... and refusing to bend the knee to t-mac and all things "christian rap" just because the powers that be there all thought he was the future of christian music.. .... in fact... that was actually the first time i had ever heard of toby mac too.. ... or had ever even seen a picture of him...
i don;t know if you remember but they also didn;t like what i had to say about the meaning of that carefully sculpted bit of facial hair under his lower lip.. .. or what was behind much of the hand gestures and dance moves his "performers" were doing in the video they showed either.....
hearing someones "music" might be bad enough.... even if the words sound right.... ... and in t-macs case it was more than enough... ...but seeing the physical performance of his "dancers" sealed it as far as i was concerned... and told me all i would have needed to know - even without hearing the sensory grating noise they call rap music....
no.... i wouldn;t put any more stock in the message of a toby mac song than i would a song from any other secular rock or rap musician.....
2nd corinthians 6-17 says ... "wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,"
how can we as christians call ourselves separate.. or "out from among them"..., when we keep trying so hard to be just like them?.... . and how can we expect to hear anything true or sacred from the mouth of those whose bodies work so hard to keep showing us they remain unclean?... nothing that comes from contemporary culture surprises me.... but it does still surprise me sometimes that so many in the christian world get taken in by it... ..and more than just taken in... they become consumed and controlled by it...

I hate "commercialization" in any form of Christianity and especially of Jesus Christ. In my view "commercialization" is one of the worst aspects of modern "christianity". People do it and don't think one thing about. It is one of the reasons it is difficult for me to attend any local churches in my area. I just can't take it. I've been considering attending Catholic mass. Not that I'm even remotely Catholic, at least their ritualization is more "Christ centric" than average "fundamentalist" country club in my area.
I probably can't take it either......
I remember years ago seeing what I believe now was an Ford Van with a local radio station logo on the side. The logo read "The Light".... station such and such.
I thought to myself. I thought Jesus was THE LIGHT of the world. If HE is THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD, then there isn't any room for another light source.
Most people today believe such nonsense actually "HELPS" the cause of Christ. I don't see it that way. I see it as a hindrance. A HUGE hindrance to us making every man chargeable to Jesus Christ. Not us.... Jesus Christ.
There is a BIG difference there.

baptists love to hate catholics.... i attend catholic masses from time to time... at a very old school conservative church..... mostly whenever they ask me to fill in with the ensemble... but also for the special holiday services like christmas day.. christmas eve.... and easter.... ..much of the doctrines are wrong... some of them are horribly wrong.... and there are quite a few friends of mine who are actually members of that church who agree with me... they are saved and theologically would fit into any baptist church.... ...
some might ask how they worship side by side with people who hold such vastly different beliefs... but one of them told me if you look at the average baptist church today you will see people sitting side by side with others who have different beliefs just as vast and just as diametrically opposed to their own.... ..they call each other calvinist and arminian.... and a few get called semi-pelagians or open theists.... . but they all also call each other christian and fellow baptists.....
anyway... that was my friends justifcation for joining the catholic church....... i don;t think i could do that the way she does - even though i do enjoy many of the servces and even many of the sermons that are more in line with my own conservative beliefs and not heavy with catholic extra-biblical stuff... ....
but for as long as she stays alive and keeps showing up to teach i will stick with my hawaiian sunday school teacher.... ..she is a former fundamental baptist who is now part of a christian congregational church.. ....i don;t even know how old she really is... she never tells us.... but i do know she was there when pearl harbor was bombed.... she and her brother were on their way to sunday school themselves that morning when it started... and she froze into place watching the planes fly in and the bombs dropping - until her brother grabbed her and pulled her inside the church..... ..
