Power Struggles

Let me first start by saying....
I HATE... power struggles.
Sad to say, life is full of them. You find them at home. You find them at school. You find them in sports. You find them on the job.... Even sadder to say, you find them at "church".
IMHO, you can most likely attribute the vast majority of problems between brother and sisters in Christ to....... "power struggles".
Lets be real and true to our species for a moment. We WANT to be noticed. We do. Its part of the very fabric of our being. Power struggles are centered around our desire to be important. We want people to notice and.... PRAISE us for the good things we've done. When we're wrong, we want people to ignore as if it never happened.
I believe the Apostle Paul knew this. Its one of the reasons Paul spoke of leaders not being a "novice". Lest he be "lifted up" with pride. It takes experience with God and experience with ourselves.... to recognize our innate desire to be noticed. If we're not careful, we will make very important choices not based on what's right or wrong. Rather, we'll base them on how they best "suit" us. Sometimes we do this and don't even realize we've done it..... till our choices blow up all around us. Be certain, such choices ALWAYS do.
Its rare in this life to find ANYONE that will do something against their own self interest. Its true. In nature, this good to a certain degree. I helps protect us from being wronged. Yet, there are times its OKAY to allow ourselves to be wronged. In fact, at times. I believe such things come as purposeful challenge for us. Peter put this way...
1Pe 2:20 For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable
with God.
I can say as with much honesty as I've ever had in my life, I desire less and less to be noticed anymore. Don't get me wrong. Its not disappeared, but I've come to recognize my problems with it.
Our "Power" is with God. Its not with any other person. We either have power "with" God..... or we don't. Every other "power struggles" just doesn't matter nearly as much.
I think if we were to see the raw truth of the issue. Our greatest power struggle is with OURSELVES.
I don't believe that MEEKNESS ever hurt Moses, himself. At every turn, God took control when Moses needed someone to defend him.
Psa 121:2 My help shall come from the Lord, who made the heaven and the earth.
