  I have a dear friend that loves to study end time events. In fact, he is so wrapped up in it.... he doesn't realize just how lacking he is in so many important areas. 
  
  I realized a long time ago now.... that things are much worse than most anyone will admit. In fact, I have long believed the real biblical local assemblies... seeking God..... pretty much ceased to exist about 1900 years ago. Things have progressively gotten worse since then. 
  
  So much so.... it is nearly impossible to get anyone to admit what passes now as Christianity is nothing more than a vain tradition passed from one reprobate generation to the next.
  
  Don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to feel special or important from believing I understand this. I genuinely feel discouraged about it. Ever how sad it makes me feel, we must all see things for what they really are....
  
  My oldest and dearest friend asked me about this several years ago and I told him that I believe we've really come full circle to the days of Abraham. There are some Abrahams still around but not many. 
  
  I try to be like Elijah and think I'm alone. We're not. Its just much horribly worse than anyone imagines. Its been that way for a very very very long time. Its not something new that every generation thinks will culminate in the return of Christ at any moment for THEM. 
  
  Just how bad do you believe it is?

  It-s bad enough that the US nominated Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump for President.

  Kennedy and Nixon wasn't a good either. Neither was Johnson and Goldwater. 
  
  I think people are exaggerating to say this is the worst choice there has ever been. I don't believe it. 
  
  Ahab was a horrible King. So were the vast majority of Kings that ruled Israel. People just like to think its worse for them than others.

  As far as end time events and America's place in it, I agree with a speaker I heard many years ago. His name is Jimmy DeYoung. Perhaps you know him, perhaps you do not. Perhaps you agree with him, perhaps you do not. What I agree with is that the United States of America is not mentioned as a part of end time prophecy and that there is a reason for that. We will not be a power in that time.
  
  I believe we will destroy ourselves as a power from the INSIDE, possibly long before end time events come to pass. Our current political atmosphere bears this out.

  There are other possibilities. The US may well be indirectly alluded to in prophecy. There is also the possibility that the vast majority of all prophecy was fulfilled before the US was ever formed. 
  
  I've long abandoned the idea that the 7 churches in Revelation are "church ages". They were 7 churches in existence and different at the time the writer of Revelation was written. I see absolutely no reason to believe in the various "church ages" doctrines. 
  
  Jesus said he would return. Everything has pretty much happened that needed to happen for His return to take place. I have no idea when He will return. I may go to Him before then. Either way Paul said it perfectly....
