  As a new Christian, I was greatly blessed and helped by the Godly saints of Grace Independent Baptist Church. But even as a new Christian, I realized that their doctrines about movies and television weren't found in Scripture. I believed in and practiced those beliefs, but I was aware that they were not Scriptural, while those good folks (Many of whom are now in Heaven) thought that they were.
  
  Why didn't HAC teach this? Possibly because they taught, preached, and practiced many doctrines that are not found in Scripture.

  10) Deceit was a major part of the HAC ministry.
  
  They opened the college without telling us that they weren't accredited.
  
  The first HAC student to be honored publicly (he brought in over 100 on his bus route) was expelled shortly afterwards for homosexuality.
  
  Bob Billings, the first president, had purchased his doctorate from a diploma mill.
  
  When Dr. Billings was demoted for objecting to Dave Hyles' sins, Brother Hyles lied to us in chapel that he had never been in charge of the college.
  
  When the Vineyard's Gangsters scandal broke, several gang members were honored with academic awards that other students had earned.
  
  When students with large bus routes failed courses, teachers were ordered to pass them.
  
  Grades and records were falsified in order to vilify students who objected to Vineyard's Gangsters.

  What I said was true.  My heart broke for those I came across during my time of running bus routes and reaching out to others under the Hyles ministry.   And then when I saw how that ministry treated them, and what it regarded them as, my heart was broken all the more.
  
  I grew up in west Texas doing migrant farm labor. I went to HAC already aware of what it was like to be seen by the rich and those in power as nothing more than a strong back, and pair of arms. But at least that was something, and it was something they paid us for.
  
  But at HAC the powerful and others in charge saw the people on their bus routes as far less than that. They saw them as nothing more than a number. Something they could use to improve the looks of their weekly reports. One more feather in their cap to point to while they proclaimed themselves a success in the ministry.
  
  I did learn a lot both from HAC and FBCH, and also quite a bit about the people both behind the works, and those heavily involved in them while I was there. But the lessons I learned are probably not the lessons they intended to teach.  And very little of what I have seen or heard from the people who continued on and graduated from HAC has convinced me I was wrong in my interpretations of those lessons.

  Vince,
  I have read your comments for years, on this and another HAC forum. I agree with what you have written, mostly. I believe that you have some resentments from HAC that you are still carrying with you. It puzzles me, because you obviously are a thinking, intelligent Christian. You seem to have more resentments about Hyles-Anderson than you do about the Catholic church from which you came previously. I am curious about this.
