The "House of God"?

You've heard it time and time again. "You must go to the house of God".
Well. Tell me. What is the "House of God"?
I've said for many years, that David made a mistake. Yes. David made a mistake when He desired to build the Temple to begin with.....
Read the words of Stephen....
Act 7:47 But Solomon built him an house.
Act 7:48 Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,
Act 7:49 Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?
Act 7:50 Hath not my hand made all these things?
Act 7:51 Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Spirit: as your fathers did, so do ye.
I know people just don't pay attention to what they read. They really don't. I was read this verse many years ago and it just out at me like I'd never seen before. I actually... "payed attention" to what I was reading.
Stephen clearly said that Solomon resisted the Holy Spirit by building Him an house!!!!
Read it again.....
Now, I can hear my fundamentalist friend already. They LOVE to reference 1 Timothy 3:15.
1Ti 3:15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

Again. Pay attention to what you're reading....
Notice that Paul describes the "house of God" in this verse. Its found in the statements.....
which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
Well.... that certain doesn't fit Acts 7:48. It doesn't. In fact, it only fits if you understand that Paul is appealing to Timothy's actions among the body of Christ. The "Church" of the Living God. "The pillar and ground of the truth".
Dear fundamentalist friend and anyone else that loves to throw around the term "house of God".......
The body of Christ is the "house of God". We are His dwelling!!!
Not some Temple built in ancient times. Not some building today..... Its US!!!
God NEVER intend for mankind to turn some earthly building into the "house of God". NEVER.
Yes. God allowed it. God even work in it. However, its been God's perfect choice in humanity.
Let me ask all you parents out there.... Just how many times has your child do everything you wanted them to do? How many times have you had to settle for what you had at the time?
