The problem was caused by a stent that the surgeon put in over a year ago. He apparently never told anyone it was supposed to be a 3-month stent and removed, so it has been in there clogging things up and causing problems for over a year. Only in the past month did the situation start to become life-threatening. They successfully removed the stent this morning and she's already feeling better. The danger isn't quite over yet. They're keeping her on IV antibiotics and observation for a few days. But it looks like she'll be okay. Thank you for your prayers.

Update: She went septic (massive infection) due to the stent blockage, which weakened her system dramatically. Although the anti-biotics cleared that up, the septic shock led to an outbreak of shingles which was extremely painful for her. Fortunately, the doctor prescribed an anti-viral medicine that helped clear that up.
The best news of all is she had a PET scan, and it showed everything is clean. No inflammation, no signs of cancer anywhere in her body.
Praise GOD!!
Side note: If you're over 60, get a shingles vaccine shot. It doesn't guarantee you'll never get shingles, but it reduces your chances. I got the shot a couple months ago. My wife isn't over 60 yet.
In case you're unaware, shingles is basically "left-over chicken pox". It sometimes re-emerges when you get older. But when it does, it doesn't present itself as chicken pox a second time. The second time, it attacks your nerves and produces excruciating pain. -
