Why do we try so hard to take the place of Jesus Christ?
#1
This might be a silly example but I like Luke Comb's song "Even though I'm leaving".....

Video below.

What I don't like about the song is the fact it really is a lie.

As much as I'd like to tell those I love, I will always be with them. I'm not God. I can't make that claim. In fact, if I were the make that claim..... I'd feel like I'd be trying to take the place our Lord Jesus Christ.

This world needs an everlasting relationship with God's Son. No person can provide this promise to someone else. Death still separate us. Jesus is the only One that can. He will NEVER leave us. NEVER forsake us. NEVER ALONE.

If we'd just let Jesus... BE.... Jesus. It would make a difference.

short answer?...... a god complex.... ....inability to separate our own thoughts and desires from the word and the will of God..... ..more christians are afflicted with it than will ever admit it.. .. or will ever realize it.... ....the theory among many christian groups that it;s "all about us" is very prevalent... .....

but what is it that makes so many christians assume that after they die they will have a kind of omniscient all seeing ability,..like what scripture tells us God has... and that they will be able to look down on their loved ones, and even watch over them as if they will become one of the very angels themselves?..... ....i have not seen that backed up anywhere in scripture.... but i know a lot of christians who seem to believe it.....

death will eventually separate us from everyone we love.... ... but even before that happens... we are... all of us... only a small blood clot blocking a cerebral artery away from losing all physical control of ourselves, losing all recognition of loved ones and all the memories we have of them... .......forgetting everything we ever knew about who we were...... ......

but most of us have spent the majority of our lives being told we are the captains of our souls and the masters of our destiny etc etc.... .... ...and that we can achieve anything we want if we just want it bad enough.. ...all lies.... ... bottom line is.... none of us should attempt to make promises of ourselves that only God can keep.... ...and we shouldn;t believe the promises other people make of themselves to us either, that only God can keep.. ..even when they are cherished loved ones making that promise... ........

Well said. Couldn't have said it better!!!

I've frustrated many people in my life saying such things..... even to the point some really believe I enjoy do so. I really don't. In fact, I most hate doing but it is necessary.

Human beings just live in a fantasy world and don't have any idea just how fragile they are!!
