i;m still working on arrows today...... but i deleted my thread i started about it because every time i looked at the who is online i saw google printing the thread...... Huh ... ... i rmember that happening once before when i use to post archery pictures on the old .com forum.... .... suddenly pictures of my handmade bows and arrows were showing up on other peoples archery websites.....  Dodgy ......  i don;t mind people trying to copy our style of arrow making..... but i have never seen anyone do it yet without taking shortcuts and producing an inferior product... ...... what we make is all hand made from start to finish.... ..occasionally we use pre-cut arrow shafts... but most often.... and especially when making native american arrows..... we plane down the shafts from strips of wood that is hand cut and selected for it;s straight grain.... .... all fletching and lashing of serving is done totally by hand.... in all each hunting arrow represents about 4 hours of work.... and each native american arrow represents no less than 8........ (not counting the time an arrow treated with oil is left hanging up to dry....) ...... it;s a very labor intensive process...... ... not easy...... but that;s why they are also not cheap...  Undecided ....

but anyway...... if other archers want to copy our technique to make hand crafted arrows that;s fine..... it;s an ancient technique and nobody owns a copyright.....  but i do wish they would post pictures of their own arrows they made using my techniques and not actual pictures of mine.....  Undecided ... especially if they are thinking of selling what they make...... ........ after all..... not to brag ..... but mine are highly sought after by traditional bowhunters....... and i do have a reputation to uphold.....  Tongue

thank you.... 01... learning to make arrows was hard work...... but seeing what google was doing is actually pretty easy...... at the bottom of the front page of the forum is a board statistics bar... with a who;s online link...... you just click on the complete list link and it will show you a list of everyone currently logged in...... (unless they chose to be invisible).... and it will also show you what thread they are looking at..... and whether they are reading it.... replying to it... or printing it....... .......

google and bing are logged in here most all the time.... and almost every time i looked at that page during the last few days - google was printing my thread about arrow making.... 04 .....i am not completely sure what that means ..... but i;m thinking it probably means somebody out there in cyber-land found that thread by googling for images of traditional hunting arrows or for posts on making them... and was interested in them.......... which is probably fine...... that thread was being looked at all the time..... guests and members of the forum print threads all the time.....  ....  but it just made me wonder when i saw it being printed by google ..... 07 ........

i probably should have just left it and not deleted it.... ....... that was not a new picture i posted in the thread.... it was a picture of arrows i made a couple of years ago..... and it has been passed around by other other archers and arrow makers online before.......along with dozens of others i made and posted over the years... .... there is nothing wrong with it.... that;s the thing you understand will happen when you post pictures and videos to the internet........ . but it just makes me a little nervous when it;s my own work they are passing around.....especially if they try to take credit for it..... which did happen once before...... 35

Yes, it is very creepy.

When I looked at the other forum's who is online list I saw the same thing is happening over there too.  And in multiple places across 5 pages of listed users.

But I can't tell whether it's Google or just another lurker. The users there are only listed as guests if they are not logged in.

.... if i didn;t live where we do..... .... with the kind of security we have....... .. i would probably just stay off the internet altogether......  35 ..... but there is a certain amount of security 3000 miles of deep water gives you even without all the other stuff.... 90 .... so the creepiness of all that doesn;t bother me as much at it would otherwise.....  67
